The "Birth of Art Deco" featuring George Barbier (1882 - 1932) is a new exhibition at the Fortuny Museum in Venice, Italy from August 5, 2008 to January 5, 2009.
George Barbier is the famous artist and fashion illustrator, theatre designer in the Art Déco movement. He is particulary well known for his sophisticated pochoir plates appearing in the Gazette du Bon Ton, Falbalas et Franfreluches, Modes et Manieres, Personage de Comedie and other plate sets. Over two hundred works including pochoir prints, books and water colors will be presented at the exhibition.
